Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about sizing, using the sling, your dog's condition, orders, and our Fit Promise. Can't find your answer? Message us - a real person replies, usually within a business day.

Sizing & Fit

It's the measurements that matter most, not the weight. With your dog standing, take two with a soft tape: the waistline (all the way around the body, just in front of the back legs) and the thigh (around the thickest part of one upper back leg). Match them to our size guide. As a rough guide, weight runs about 22-38 lb for Small, 33-71 lb for Medium, and 66-100 lb for Large, but the tape always wins. Still unsure? Send us your dog's measurements and we'll tell you.

Sizing & Fit

Size up. There's a fully adjustable strap, and a slightly roomier cradle is always more comfortable than one that's too tight.

Sizing & Fit

We'll exchange it for the right size, free. And if it still isn't right for your dog, send it back within 60 days for your money back - that's our Fit Promise.

Sizing & Fit

The sling is built to support dogs up to 150 lb - what matters is the fit, not the scale. If your dog's thigh and waist fall within the Large range (thigh up to 27 in, waist up to 33 in), the Large will hold them, even well over 100 lb. Very small dogs from around 15 lb fit the Small. Near the edges of a range? Message us the measurements and we'll confirm before you order. See the full breakdown on our size guide.

Using the Sling

Yes - it's built for one person. Two-step on/off in about ten seconds, and a single padded handle placed to keep you upright so you're not straining your back. Owners well into their 70s manage large dogs on their own with it.

Using the Sling

A dog's hips are cone-shaped, so ordinary slings slide backward off the narrowest part of the body. Ours has a contoured cradle plus an integrated tether that clips forward to the collar or front harness, anchored against the direction it would slide, so it physically can't ride back off the hips.

Using the Sling

Yes. The pee/poop-friendly cut supports the hips while leaving everything else clear, so your dog can toilet standing, outside, on their own and keep their dignity.

Using the Sling

It's machine washable. Wash on a gentle cycle and air dry - skip the tumble dryer to protect the padding and straps. Wipe down between washes as needed.

Using the Sling

Most dogs settle in quickly, especially because it only supports the hindquarters rather than wrapping the whole body. Start with short sessions and a few treats; within a couple of days most dogs barely notice it's there.

Is It Right for My Dog

It's designed for rear-end weakness of many kinds:

  • Arthritis & hip dysplasia
  • Degenerative myelopathy (DM)
  • IVDD and other spinal issues
  • CCL / TPLO recovery and torn ligaments
  • FCE / spinal stroke
  • General "back legs giving out" in senior dogs

It supports the hindquarters so your dog can stand, walk, and toilet with stability.

Is It Right for My Dog

It's commonly used for controlled support during the rehab window after cruciate (CCL/TPLO) surgery and similar procedures. Always follow your vet's specific recovery plan, and check with them about when and how much to use it.

Is It Right for My Dog

Only you and your vet can answer that. But the most common thing we hear isn't regret for trying too soon - it's wishing they'd tried sooner. If your dog still has good days in them, a secure way to get the back half of them up can give you more of those days. Even one more good day is worth it.

Is It Right for My Dog

No. It's a support and mobility aid that helps you lift and steady the hindquarters - not a medical device or a substitute for a vet's diagnosis and treatment plan. For ongoing conditions, use it alongside your vet's guidance.
